I have this really bad habit of filling my life up with stuff when the s*** hits the fan in my world. When I realized that divorce was inevitable, I panicked a bit and started getting really busy, really quickly. I got a second part time job, changed my full time job, signed up for an online class and continued my workout schedule at the gym. Oh, and I decided to compete again. Needless to say, I was busy as heck and wasn't feeling a thing! Not the best idea I've ever had.
It didn't take long for the crash and burn to start. The two job thing lasted about a month. I'm too old to work that hard and I wasn't the best fit for my day job. (okay, who am I kidding...I sucked at it!) About 3/4 of the way through the term at school I started breaking down. Avoiding my homework assignments and feedback from the instructor. Turning in everything at the very last second, wanting with every fiber of my body to just quit and walk away. I needed time to just stop thinking for a while. My bartending job and working out both provide a great outlet for that. I go to work, do my job, visit with and serve my customers, collect my tips and go home. Don't think about the job when I'm not there, don't think about my life when I'm there. The gym? Well, that is my happy place. The place I go to feel exhilarated, to challenge myself, to exhaust myself. Everything that required brain power from me felt like it was sucking the life out of me. Unfortunately, that included this blog.
I think that I have finally come to a place where I feel healed, at least enough to start focusing on a future as a single middle aged woman. Working for other people has taught me that I don't want to work for other people. Love the paycheck, hate not having control of my life. Also, I miss doing what I love and happen to be very good at, helping other women find fashion that makes them happy, proud and confident.
I've made a plan (I told you, I ALWAYS have a plan!) for this blog and for both online and brick and mortar stores. Over the next several months I'd like to introduce some guests to you through both interviews and guest posts. Interviews with people who have successfully made major changes in their lives later in life and people who help others make changes in their lives. I'm going to introduce you to a chef who helps people stick to their clean eating plans. She'll offer advice, and if we're lucky maybe some recipes, to help you with your dietary goals.
Lastly, I'm working on ways to offer clothing and accessory products to you. I'm hoping that some of my vendors from Piccolo will let me do pre-order flash sales with some of their products. It won't be the quickest way to get products, but you know that whatever I offer will be worth the wait. I'm hoping that this will grow into an actual online store, with brick and mortar stores following pretty quickly afterwards.
I'll be starting some of these features over the next month or so, however the flash sales most likely won't start until early 2017.
Let me know in the comments below if there are any other features you'd like to see, if you have anyone in mind you'd like to learn more about and if there are specific brands and/or products you are interested. Can't guarantee that I'll have access to everything you're looking for, but I'll try my hardest to get it done.
